OUR INTERPRETER
My name is Kelly Wong, I’m an interpreter who is proficient in five languages, nevertheless, translation jobs are divided into two types namely, text translation and verbal translation. A translator works in texts translation and an interpreter provides verbal translation between human parties. Generally, an interpreter is conversant in translation too, however a translator may not be well versed in interpretation. As for me, I’m conversant in both translation and interpretation; just that I’m incline towards interpretation jobs.
Being an interpreter, I have opportunities to provide interpretation at many big and small scale meetings and activities in private, government and non-government organisation sectors. These meetings or activities include international, specific overseas countries and local conferences, seminars, symposium, business meetings, trainings, delegation and so on. Prior to Covid-19, I’ll sometimes travel outstation or overseas to provide interpretation. With the arrival of Covid-19, many meetings and activities have changed to online, with that I have mastered online interpretation skill as well.
As a Malaysian Chinese, I’m able to speak Mandarin, English, Malay, Cantonese and Hokkien languages fluently, I’m very much proud of this. I’m proficient in providing simultaneous and consecutive interpretation between English and Mandarin languages, English and Malay languages, Mandarin and Malay languages. Currently, I’m one of the few Malaysian Chinese who is able to provide interpretation from Mandarin / English to Malay language.

Ng Mun Hong is a freelance translator with 18 years of experience in translation to English, Chinese or BM. Jobs completed include book, press release, patent, report, agreement, product brochure, training manual, company profile, advertorial, newsletter, certificate etc. During his 13 years with a publication on part-time basis, he has gained valuable experience translating Chinese picture books to English. He also does proofreading and transcription as need arises.
He has attended Chinese-to-BM Translation Workshop conducted by ITNM & PERSPEKTIF from Dec 2011 to Jan 2012, with “Kepujian” in the final test.
Mr. Ng seeks to deliver translation with due consideration of the structure and wording of the target language, beyond a mere literal translation of the text.
